Statement of Work Project Title: Chill Water Expansion Joint Repair Completion time: Ten (10) Calendar Days Introduction and Background: VA Medical Center (VAMC), Brooklyn campus is currently experiencing issues with the existing cooling system. The damaged/leaking expansion joints will cause a shutdown of the chilled water lines feeding the entire westside of the medical facility. The items delineated in this scope of work are critical for maintaining adequate cooling supply to the facility.  The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, equipment, material, transportation, and supervision for the repair of the cooling system, as delineated in this scope of services, located at 800 Poly Place Brooklyn, NY 11209. This is to ensure critical cooling supply to the facility to keep critical services operational. Due to the increase of water leaks, the chill water riser to be shutdown, which eliminate cooling to half of the medical center, which impact patient care throughout 16 floors to include 2 In-patient floors, hospice unit, dermatology clinic, G.I service, pulmonary unit, and medical professional s admin space. 1 for the Veteran s Affairs Medical Center, 800 Poly Place, Brooklyn, NY 11209 in accordance with VA specifications at http://www.cfm.va.gov/til/specs.asp. Work shall meet all VA design guidelines and requirement; contractor must complete training at https://www.tms.va.gov/plateau/user/login.jsp. Scope Of Work: This work shall include all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision but not limited to: - Disconnect and remove existing 4 expansion valve on 5th and 12th floor - Furnish and install new 4 & 8 CHW expansion valve - Protection of area of work - Open and close existing Sheet rock wall to gain access for valve replacement - Fire Protection, Fire Watch, Wall & Floor Protections will be provided in all areas of work - Open existing sheetrock walls to gain access for Expansion Joint replacements -Furnish & Install New Sheetrock, Studs, Track, Hatches, Patch & Paint Walls to Match Existing Walls - Patch, Repair, Furnish & Install to Re-insulate at Joint replacements and Piping on the second floor as requested. Alternate: - Provide x-ray/ultrasound testing of existing CHW Riser will be an Alternate if needed and agreed upon Prior to the Start of the assignment. Qualifications: -Project labor is figured as PREVAILING WAGE - All work is figured on straight time Exclusions: -Overtime work - Cutting, Patching, Painting -LEED requirements - Maintenance contract -Power Wiring -Chemical cleaning of existing pipe - Filing fees or permits - Engineering - Drain down or refill of CHWS/R - Work or repairs to existing equipment or related controls - X-ray testing of existing pipe - Mechanical Drawings: N/A , Dated N/A Prepared by N/A Contractor must have OSHA training, and specialized OSHA training. Contractor shall follow all Infection Control measures and Interim Life Safety measures during construction. All work performed will be in an operational healthcare facility. All work shall be done in compliance with all VA Policy and requirements. All work shall be done in accordance with NFPA, Life Safety, and VA Standards and Regulations, and OSHA regulations. Contractor shall account for any additional expenses for afterhours/weekend work due to area being occupied. Contractor shall give at least one year on all workmanship and provide battery warranties. It is the responsibility of the contractor to verify all quantities, field conditions and measurements prior to starting work. The contractor shall notify the CO/COR and VA Engineering Team of any differing site conditions prior to starting. The Contractor shall always provide an English-Speaking working supervisor on-site when work is being performed and for the duration of this project. Supervisor must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a supervisor on five (5) projects like this. The contractor shall provide his own storage for materials. The VA is not responsible for loss of tools, materials, equipment, etc. The Contractor shall post visible required warning signs and barriers prior to beginning any work. The Contractor is responsible for any damage caused by his employees. All damages shall be repaired and/or replaced at no additional cost to the government. Contractor shall submit schedule to VA for approval. The Contractor shall not perform any work on utility services without prior coordination with COR and VA Engineering Team. The contractor shall not interfere in any way with Hospital operations. The contractor shall perform cleanup at any time when work area becomes cluttered and/or restricts traffic. Nevertheless, work area must be cleaned at the end of each work shift.
